Meet Ben, our new GM at MOA Charlotte, whose culinary journey began in the bustling world of restaurants during his teenage years. He first fell in love with the industry at a lively Korean BBQ joint in Los Angeles, where he was excited to introduce American diners to the delights of Korean cuisine.
His path then led him to Genwa in Los Angeles, where his unwavering dedication to exceptional service earned him a well-deserved promotion to General Manager.
Under Ben's leadership, Genwa expanded, opening new locations in Beverly Hills and downtown Los Angeles. During his time at Genwa, Ben's curiosity led him to explore the world of fine wines. He took charge of curating an impressive wine list and guiding the beverage program with insights from VIP regulars at Wally's Beverly Hills.

However, the unexpected challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic allowed Ben to pause and reflect on his career. Fueled by determination and a thirst for fresh experiences, he stepped into the realm of fine dining. Ben secured a coveted position at Angler LA in Beverly Hills, a restaurant under the Saison Hospitality Group, founded by renowned Chef Joshua Skenes. This transition, a significant departure from his previous roles, brought formidable challenges, which he fearlessly embraced.

After a temporary closure for renovations, Ben relocated to Angler San Francisco, a Michelin-starred establishment with breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge. Subsequently, he received a prestigious invitation to join the team at Saison, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant recognized among the world's top 100 in the World's 50 Best Restaurants. Saison was celebrated for its exquisite tasting menus prepared with an open wood fire, providing Ben with invaluable opportunities for personal and professional growth. With nearly two enriching years at the Saison Hospitality Group under his belt, Ben now begins a new journey with the MOA Korean BBQ team, leveraging his expertise in both Korean BBQ and fine dining.

His goal is to enhance service standards and elevate the culinary and beverage experience at MOA. Despite MOA's three-year presence, Ben remains dedicated to continuous improvement.

Mark your calendars for our grand opening date, Monday, September 25th! 🎉

The 6,500 square-foot space was an office building before Sean Kim took over, which allowed for every aspect to be built from scratch in the exact vision he had in mind. Kim launched MOA in Charlotte, North Carolina, back in 2020 during the pandemic. MOA instantly became one of the hottest restaurants in town, we didn’t expect anything less when he decided to expand in Columbia.

A total of 226 seats; 27 grilled tables & 16 non grilled outdoor seating. We are now accepting reservations! Secure your spot & have a memorable experience with us. We will see you soon 🫶🏼❤️

I remember the first day I opened MOA - June 29, 2020 - during the pandemic where times were difficult especially dining out in a restaurant. My amazing customers and staff have helped build this restaurant, and I can’t thank you all enough. After 3 years of my time here, I will return to Columbia, SC and open another MOA (1333 Main St.) The projected opening date is set to be September 1, 2023.

I am most proud of my son and daughter, who have graduated University and High School. I wish I spent more time with my family but I was focused on building up MOA in Charlotte. I am very grateful for them, and my staff for standing by my side through everything.

I will visit MOA in Charlotte but a new management will begin now. Thank you again for supporting my business! Please be sure to visit MOA in Columbia or my other restaurant @929kitchen
