In the exciting development of Columbia, South Carolina’s cityscape come unique eateries that are worth experiencing at least once. From American to Asian cuisine, we’ve compiled a list of the new restaurants that have recently opened in the metro area.

Drake’s Duck-In

The temporary location at 1840 Hampton St., where the restaurant has been operating for nearly a year, will close Feb. 16, owner Daniel Boan confirmed to Free Times. It’s not yet clear exactly when the Main Street location will reopen, but Boan said they’re preparing to open back up soon. An official opening date will be announced at a later time. The longtime fast-casual chicken restaurant, known for its chicken sandwiches and affordable eats, closed its 1544 Main St. location in spring 2023 as the restaurant prepared for major renovations.

The restaurant will officially open its doors at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at 4711 Forest Dr. in the Forest Hills shopping center. The Columbia-based culinary enterprise Food People Restaurant Group is owned by local entrepreneurs Chris Sullivan and James Williams.
